Standard Chartered Roshan Digital Account — NRP Guide

Remote banking and investment access for overseas Pakistanis, conventional or Saadiq.

  • For Non-Resident Pakistanis
  • Conventional & Saadiq
  • Roshan Apna Ghar

The Standard Chartered Roshan Digital Account lets non-resident Pakistanis open a Pakistani bank account remotely and invest in property, government securities like the Naya Pakistan Certificate, and home financing through Roshan Apna Ghar — without visiting a branch.

The Roshan Digital Account (RDA) is State Bank of Pakistan's initiative letting overseas Pakistanis bank and invest at home without a branch visit, and Standard Chartered runs both a conventional and a Saadiq (Shariah-compliant) version of it. This page covers what SCB's RDA specifically offers.

What You Can Do With an SCB RDA

Remote Account Opening

Open a Pakistani bank account fully online from abroad, without visiting a branch.

Naya Pakistan Certificate

Invest in government certificates designed specifically for RDA clients.

Roshan Apna Ghar

A Shariah-compliant home financing solution built for RDA/NRP clients buying property in Pakistan.

Saadiq Roshan Digital Savings Account

A Mudarabah-based Islamic savings account variant of the RDA.

RDA product features confirmed from Standard Chartered Pakistan's official Roshan Digital Account pages.

Who Qualifies

SCB's Roshan Digital Account eligibility is set at the programme level, per SCB's official application criteria:

  • Individual Non-Resident Pakistani Nationals (NRPs) holding a CNIC, SNIC, or NICOP
  • Foreign Nationals holding a Pakistan Origin Card (POC)
  • Members of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation
  • Employees or officials of the Federal Government or a Provincial Government posted abroad

Accounts can be opened singly or jointly. A joint account can only be opened between family members — parent, sibling, spouse, or children — where at least one joint account holder must fall under one of the four categories above.

Due to cross-border jurisdiction restrictions, SCB Pakistan can't facilitate RDA account opening for residents of certain countries at all. For some other countries, standard RDA transactions (deposits, withdrawals) are permitted, but SCB can't facilitate NPC/iNPC investment or conventional/Islamic credit card issuance specifically. Which restrictions apply to you is shown during the application when you select your country of residence — this isn't something to assume either way in advance.

What's Actually Free for RDA Holders

Per SCB's official Schedule of Charges, Roshan Digital Account holders get several services waived entirely: debit card issuance, cheque book issuance, duplicate statements of account, and bank certificates all come free of charge, and Straight2Bank access is free for SME banking RDA clients. On the transaction side, inward remittances routed through an intermediary bank into an NRP Rupee Value Account (NRVA) carry a fee of up to the PKR equivalent of SAR 20 per transaction — worth knowing before you route a large remittance that way.

Fee waivers confirmed from Standard Chartered Pakistan's official Saadiq Schedule of Charges, 1 July – 31 December 2026.
