BankIslami Trade Services

Shariah-compliant Letter of Credit, import and export financing, and trade finance services for BankIslami's business and corporate customers.

  • Shariah-Compliant
  • Corporate & SME

BankIslami offers trade finance to importers and exporters entirely under Shariah-compliant structures — Letters of Credit issued on a Murabaha or Ijarah basis rather than conventional interest-based financing. This page covers what's on offer, how the charges work, and where to go for the business account behind it.

For Importers

BankIslami issues import Letters of Credit under a Shariah-compliant arrangement, with import financing structured by way of Murabaha or Ijarah rather than a conventional mark-up loan. Inland trade contracts are opened under URC-522 (Uniform Rules for Collections) and within State Bank of Pakistan regulations. BankIslami also supports Import Open Account transactions, where shipping documents are sent directly to the importer without an L/C, and the importer approaches the bank separately to arrange payment.

For Exporters

On the export side, BankIslami offers Export Bills for Collection, L/C Advising & Confirmation services, and an Islamic Export Refinance facility. Exporters can also access financing against Export Sight and Usance Bills, which BankIslami positions as its Shariah-compliant alternative to conventional bill discounting, alongside Pre-Shipment and Post-Shipment financing structured on Islamic modes of financing.

These figures come directly from BankIslami's own published Schedule of Bank Charges and reflect standard retail/SME pricing; corporate customers commonly negotiate bespoke terms directly with their Relationship Manager, so treat the table above as a starting reference rather than a fixed quote. BankIslami revises its Schedule of Charges roughly every six months — confirm the current figure with your Relationship Manager or BankIslami's official Schedule of Charges page before budgeting a transaction.

Also on BankIslami's Schedule of Charges: Scrips Equity Trading

Separate from trade finance, BankIslami's Schedule of Charges also lists a Scrips Equity Trading service with its own fee line, alongside Investor Portfolio Securities (IPS) account charges. This is a distinct product from the trade finance services above — it relates to equity/securities trading rather than import-export financing — and is a niche corporate/investor service; confirm current terms and eligibility directly with BankIslami's Corporate Banking team.
