UBL cyber security starts with knowing which contact channels are genuinely the bank's own. This page sticks to what UBL itself has published about UBL cyber security — the numbers, the warnings, and exactly where to report something that looks wrong.

Most bank-fraud searches come from someone who's already worried — they got a call, a text, or a suspicious app prompt and want to know if it's real. This page sticks to what UBL itself has published: which numbers are genuinely UBL's, what the bank will never ask you for, and exactly where to report something that looks wrong.

What UBL Will Never Ask For

Your PIN or Password

No genuine UBL call, SMS, or email will ever ask you to reveal your ATM PIN, Netbanking password, or UBL Digital App passcode.

An OTP You Didn't Request

If you receive a one-time password you didn't ask for, don't share it with anyone — including someone claiming to be from UBL.

Your Full Card Number to "Verify"

Legitimate account verification never requires reading out your complete card number or CVV over the phone.

UBL Cyber Security Features Built Into the App

One Trusted Device

UBL Digital App access is tied to a single device; switching devices requires biometric re-verification.

Biometric Login

Fingerprint or facial recognition required for everyday login, not just a password.

Real-Time Transaction Alerts

Every account transaction triggers an immediate notification, so unauthorized activity is visible right away.

In-App Card Lock

Lock a debit or credit card instantly from the UBL Digital App the moment you suspect it's compromised.

Security features confirmed from UBL's official UBL Digital App page.

Reporting Fraud, Forgery, or Staff Misconduct

Separate from a standard service complaint, UBL runs a dedicated Whistle Blowing channel (ubldigital.com/WhistleBlowing.aspx) specifically for reporting fraud, forgery, or misconduct — including by bank staff. Omni branchless-banking customers have their own published Customer Protection Guidelines covering agent-related fraud risks specifically.

Confirmed from UBL's official Whistle Blowing and Omni Customer Protection Guidelines pages.

Beyond UBL: Reporting to Law Enforcement

Calling UBL's fraud line freezes the account side of the problem, but it isn't a law-enforcement report. If money was actually stolen through a scam, a separate complaint with Pakistan's cybercrime authority is worth filing too — and it's worth knowing this authority changed recently. Cybercrime investigation in Pakistan moved from the FIA's Cyber Crime Wing/NR3C to a new, independent body, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), with the transition completed by 2025. Older guidance still pointing people to "FIA Cyber Crime Wing" or the old 1991 helpline is out of date — NCCIA now operates its own helpline (1799) for cybercrime complaints, separate from UBL's own 021-111-825-888 fraud line.

NCCIA's establishment and the FIA Cyber Crime Wing/NR3C transition confirmed across multiple current (2026) sources describing the change and providing NCCIA's current contact details — not from UBL's own materials, since this is a law-enforcement body separate from the bank. UBL's fraud line remains the right first call to secure your account; NCCIA is the separate route for a formal cybercrime complaint.

If You've Already Shared Sensitive Details

If you've already given out a PIN, OTP, password, or full card number to someone you now suspect wasn't genuinely from UBL, don't wait to see if anything happens — call the 24/7 fraud line at 021-111-825-888 immediately so the bank can secure the account, and follow up with a written complaint if funds were affected. See the Helpline & Complaints guide for the full escalation path if the issue isn't resolved on the first call.

FAQs

Will UBL ever call to activate my credit card?

UBL states it will only contact customers for credit card activation from its official numbers 18257 and 18258. Any other number claiming to activate a card, or asking for a PIN, OTP, or CVV, should be treated as fraud.

How do I report suspected fraud on my UBL account?

Call UBL's 24/7 Contact Center at 021-111-825-888 immediately, or use the in-app support channel in UBL Digital. Separately, fraud, forgery, or staff misconduct can be reported through UBL's Whistle Blowing channel.

Does UBL ask for OTPs or passwords over the phone?

No legitimate UBL representative will ask for your PIN, OTP, CVV, or Netbanking password over a phone call, SMS, or email. Any such request is a scam attempt regardless of how official the caller sounds.
