UBL Swift Code

- Real ISO 7064 Algorithm
- Runs in Your Browser
The UBL Swift code is what any bank abroad needs to route a wire transfer into a UBL account. This page confirms the UBL Swift code directly, and includes a free tool to generate the matching IBAN.
This tool generates your actual UBL IBAN from your account number, using the real ISO 7064 MOD-97 check-digit calculation — the same algorithm banks use to validate IBANs internationally. It runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Enter your UBL account number to generate your IBAN for receiving international transfers or remittances.
Pakistani IBAN structure (PK + 2 check digits + 4-letter bank code + up to 16-digit account number, 24 characters total) follows the ISO 13616 standard used by all Pakistani banks. UBL's bank code is UNIL. Always confirm your generated IBAN against your bank statement or branch before using it for a transfer.

Individual UBL branches — including UBL Ameen's Islamic Banking Division — may carry their own 11-character SWIFT codes ending in a specific branch suffix instead of "XXX." If your remitter asks for a branch-specific code, confirm it with your branch rather than assuming the head-office code applies.

Why the IBAN Format Matters
IBAN isn't only for international transfers. SBP mandated IBAN use for interbank, domestic, and cross-border electronic payments in Pakistan back in 2013 — banks are directed to reject a fund transfer that doesn't carry a valid IBAN once that requirement applies, not just flag it. In practice, plain account numbers still work for many everyday domestic transfers today, but the IBAN is the format Pakistani banks are actually built around, and it's specifically international wire systems (SWIFT, SEPA-adjacent networks, and most cross-border payment rails) where sending a plain account number instead of the IBAN is one of the most common reasons a transfer gets rejected or delayed at the receiving end.
A few mistakes worth avoiding: don't guess at your bank code from memory — UBL's is fixed at UNIL, but typing it wrong invalidates the whole check-digit calculation; don't drop or add spaces inconsistently, since some systems are strict about formatting; and always confirm the generated IBAN against an official bank statement before sharing it for a real transfer, particularly for a first-time payment to a new recipient.
When You'll Actually Need Both Codes
A domestic transfer within Pakistan typically only needs your plain account number or, increasingly, your IBAN — the SWIFT code isn't required for local transfers at all. It's specifically international wires, and some cross-border payment platforms, that ask for the SWIFT/BIC code alongside the IBAN. Knowing which one a specific sender needs, rather than providing both regardless, avoids confusing an international remitter with information they didn't ask for.
One more practical note: if a sender's bank rejects your IBAN as "unrecognized," it's almost always a formatting issue on their end (missing spaces, wrong country prefix) rather than an invalid UBL account — re-entering the exact 24-character string from your official bank statement usually resolves it without needing to contact UBL directly.
