  • For Overseas Pakistanis & NRPs
  • SBP-Regulated Framework

MCB's Roshan Digital Account is part of the State Bank of Pakistan's nationwide Roshan Digital Account initiative, letting Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) and Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders open and operate a Pakistani bank account remotely — without traveling to Pakistan — and access a bundle of investment products alongside standard banking.

Full Roshan Digital product list — Roshan Apna Ghar, Roshan Apni Car, Roshan Equity Investment, Roshan Samaaji Khidmat, Naya Pakistan Certificates, and Roshan Pension Plan — confirmed directly from MCB's official Consumer Loans and Deposit Accounts menu on mcb.com.pk, which also lists Government of Pakistan Securities and direct Purchase of Real Estate as connected offerings.

Naya Pakistan Certificate Profit Calculator

NPC rates are set by SBP and apply identically at every participating bank, MCB included — so this is genuinely accurate for an MCB Roshan Digital Account holder, not an estimate. Pick a currency and tenor to see the real net return after withholding tax.

Calculate Your NPC Return

Calculator Sources & Method

Annualized rates for all six currencies and five tenors are taken directly from the State Bank of Pakistan's official Naya Pakistan Certificate page. USD, GBP, and EUR rates are effective for issuances from March 27, 2026; PKR, SAR, and AED rates are effective for issuances from June 5, 2026.

Profit is calculated as simple return on principal (rate × tenor in years) — NPCs pay profit periodically (at maturity for 3/6/12-month tenors, semi-annually for 3-year and 5-year tenors) rather than compounding automatically, so this reflects the actual payout structure rather than a compounded estimate. The 10% withholding tax is flat and final per SBP's NPC rules — non-resident investors owe no further tax on this profit and aren't required to file a return if NPC profit is their only Pakistan-source income.

Rates are revised periodically by SBP as global and domestic conditions change. Always confirm the exact current rate at sbp.org.pk before investing. Last verified: September 2026.

Who Can Open a Roshan Digital Account

Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs)

Pakistan Origin Card (POC) Holders

Foreign nationals of Pakistani origin holding a valid POC are eligible under the same SBP framework.

Remote, Paperless Onboarding

Roshan Digital Account is designed to be opened fully online through video KYC — no branch visit or physical document courier required for standard applications.

Government of Pakistan Securities & Real Estate

Beyond the branded Roshan products, MCB's Roshan Digital Account also gives access to Government of Pakistan Securities (Treasury Bills and Pakistan Investment Bonds) and a direct channel for the Purchase of Real Estate in Pakistan — both listed explicitly in MCB's official product menu alongside the Roshan-branded offerings.

MCB Roshan Digital Account: Fees & Charges

MCB waives most day-to-day banking charges on the Roshan Digital Account itself, per the bank's official Schedule of Charges:

ServiceCharge
Debit card issuanceFree
Credit card issuanceFree
Cheque book issuanceFree
International courier (cheque book / debit / credit card)Free
Inter Bank Funds Transfer (IBFT)Free
Intercity clearing, withdrawal, funds transfer, chequeFree
Outward foreign remittanceFree (MCB levies no processing charge; correspondent/intermediary bank charges, if any, are recovered at actual)

Card annual/renewal fees still follow the standard Visa debit or credit card fee schedule once the free first-issuance period passes — an RDA holder isn't exempt from those ongoing card fees, only from the account-level and transfer charges listed above. Only Visa-branded debit cards are issued against RDA (PayPak and Mastercard variants aren't offered on this account):

Debit CardIssuance / Annual Fee
Visa SilverZero / Rs. 3,000
Visa GoldZero / Rs. 4,000
Visa Gold PlusZero / Rs. 4,000
Visa PlatinumZero / Rs. 14,000

Account maintenance fee is not applicable on any RDA product. Profit on the savings variants (PKR and FCY) is paid bi-annually, following MCB's Provisional Profit Rate Sheet current at the time. Cheque book issuance is free but only issued for PKR, USD, GBP, or EUR accounts. Stop payment costs up to Rs. 600 per cheque, and a duplicate account statement costs Rs. 35. Intercity/normal clearing runs Rs. 284 (PKR) or Rs. 568 (FCY, USD only), same for same-day clearing.

Fees confirmed directly from MCB's official Schedule of Charges, July-December 2026 edition, Domestic Banking section U (MCB Roshan Digital Account), and MCB's official Key Fact Statement for Deposit Products (K5-H1-2026 / K7-H1-2026, period January-June 2026).

MCB Home Remittance

Separate from Roshan Digital Account itself, MCB runs a substantial home remittance operation — the channel most overseas Pakistanis actually use first, well before they consider opening an RDA. Per MCB's own Q1 2026 disclosure, the bank held a 9.6% share of Pakistan's formal remittance market and processed USD 1,011 million in inflows during that quarter alone, positioning it among the leading players in the sector.

Most NRPs don't start with an RDA — they start by sending money home to family for years through MCB's regular remittance channels, and only later think about an RDA once they want to actually invest that money, not just send it. If you've already been remitting through MCB, you're not starting from zero — you can usually build the RDA relationship on top of what MCB already has on file for you rather than doing everything over again.

Remittance market share and inflow figures confirmed directly from MCB's official Q1 2026 press release on mcb.com.pk.

Why This Matters for Overseas Pakistanis

Before Roshan Digital Account launched nationally in September 2020, most NRPs faced a real logistical barrier to investing in Pakistan: opening a local bank account typically required an in-person branch visit, which meant either a dedicated trip home or relying on a local relative to manage everything on their behalf. The remote, video-KYC onboarding model removes that barrier for MCB's Roshan Digital Account as it does across the wider scheme.

Because Roshan Digital Account sits within an SBP-regulated framework applied consistently across participating banks, the core account-opening mechanics (documentation, KYC standard, repatriation rules) are largely standardized — what differs between MCB and competing banks is mainly the specific product bundle layered on top, such as MCB's particular mix of Roshan Apna Ghar, Roshan Apni Car, and Roshan Pension Plan.
