If you're an overseas Pakistani, the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) framework — launched by the State Bank of Pakistan — lets you open and manage a Pakistani bank account entirely online, without visiting a branch. Who's eligible

Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), Foreign Nationals holding a Pakistan Origin Card (POC), Resident Pakistanis with declared assets abroad, and employees or officials of the Federal or Provincial Government posted abroad.

Account currencies

Choice of a Pak Rupee account or a Foreign Currency (FCY) account in USD, GBP, EUR, SAR, or AED.

Tax treatment

No withholding tax deducted on profit from RDA deposits, and no need to obtain a Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) exemption certificate; no withholding tax on cash withdrawals or account-to-account transfers by NRPs.

Multiple accounts allowed

A customer can open more than one RDA at a time.

AL Habib Gateway to Equity Markets (GEM)

RDA customers can invest in the Pakistan stock market via the bank's own brokerage access point. Account opening: Rs 1,400 (individual). Brokerage commission is tiered by share price — 0.10% (shares under Rs 200), 0.075% (Rs 200–399.99), 0.05% (Rs 400+), each with its own minimum/maximum per-trade fee.

RDA funds can be invested in fixed-term deposit accounts and permissible government securities per SBP guidelines.
