HBL Car Financing Guide

Shariah-Compliant Option Diminishing Musharakah

HBL runs two separate car financing tracks: the conventional HBL Car Loan, and HBL Islamic Car Finance for customers who want a Shariah-compliant structure. This isn't the same product wearing two labels. The underlying contract is different, and that's what determines whether it's interest-based or not. This page walks through both before you apply.

HBL Islamic Car Finance — How It Works

HBL Islamic Car Finance

Musharakah-based facility for new and used vehicles. Tenure: 1–5 years for vehicles up to 1000cc, 1–3 years for vehicles above 1000cc. Comprehensive Takaful arranged through panel partners.

HBL Islamic Roshan Apni Car

Car finance for Non-Resident Pakistanis holding a Roshan Digital Account with HBL — applicants can apply with a local nominee in Pakistan. Covers locally manufactured brands (Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Kia) and CBU imports (Audi, BMW, Mercedes).

Confirmed directly from HBL's official Islamic Car Finance and Islamic Roshan Apni Car product pages (hbl.com/islamic).

Joint Applications

Financing limit, dealer network size, and insurance rate are compiled from third-party HBL CarLoan calculator sites rather than an official HBL rate table — confirm exact current markup rate and limits with HBL Phone Banking (111-111-425) or a branch before applying, since these figures are the type that change without much notice.

HBL Car Loan — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch from conventional to Islamic car financing mid-term?

No — the two are separate contract structures from day one; switching would mean closing one facility and opening the other, not a simple conversion.

Is a down payment required?

Yes, typically — the financing limit caps at 70% of vehicle value, meaning the remaining 30%-plus is expected as your upfront contribution.

A Note on Comparing Offers Before You Sign

Financing terms shift periodically with State Bank policy, so a rate quoted last month isn't guaranteed today. Before committing, ask the branch representative to put the exact markup, processing charges, and insurance cost in writing, and compare that written quote against what a second dealer or bank offers for a similar vehicle. A short delay to compare properly rarely costs more than skipping the comparison altogether.

Good For

  • Buyers who want Shariah-compliant financing (Musharakah)
  • Comparing Islamic vs. conventional car financing side by side
  • Non-Resident Pakistanis via Roshan Apni Car
  • Understanding real ownership structure before signing
