Samba Bank Profit Rates & Accounts

Samba Bank offers PKR Savings, Savings Plus, Term Deposit, and multi-currency FCY accounts, most with no minimum balance requirement. Savings profit runs on a Profit & Loss (PLS) sharing basis rather than a fixed rate, reviewed periodically — confirm the current expected rate of return directly with the bank.

The deposit accounts Samba Bank actually offers, how profit is calculated on each, and where to check the current numeric rate.

  • Savings Plus Account
  • FCY Accounts
  • Term Deposits: 1 Week–5 Yrs

Samba Bank's profit rates apply across a handful of core deposit products: a standard PKR Savings Account, a daily-balance Savings Plus Account, Term Deposit Accounts, and multi-currency FCY accounts. The bank doesn't publish a single standardized public rate card the way some larger banks do, so this page focuses on structure. For the exact current percentage, confirm directly with Samba Bank — profit rates get reviewed periodically in line with SBP policy rate moves.

Why this page won't quote you a fixed savings rate. Samba's PKR savings products run on a Profit & Loss (PLS) sharing basis, not a fixed interest rate — Samba's own account pages state that rates on these deposits "are not final and are subject to change." The bank periodically publishes an Expected Rate of Return bulletin rather than a single standing number. Some third-party bank-comparison sites list a specific savings rate as if it were fixed and current — one such listing we checked still carried a 2021 copyright notice. Always confirm the live expected rate of return directly with Samba Bank or its official Resources page before treating any published percentage, including ones on this site, as current.

Samba Bank Deposit Accounts

PKR Savings Account

Immediate access to your money with unlimited transaction facilities, a Samba Master/PayPak Debit Card, and free real-time utility bill payment via Samba Online and SambaSmart.

Savings Plus Account

Profit is calculated on your daily balance, with payout occurring monthly — designed for customers who want savings-account flexibility without sacrificing daily-balance profit accrual.

Term Deposit Account

Fixed-tenure deposits ranging from 1 week to 5 years, with an auto-renewal facility so the deposit can roll over seamlessly at maturity.

Confirmed from Samba Bank's official Savings Account page and third-party product summaries cross-checked against it.

Foreign Currency (FCY) Accounts

Samba Bank offers FCY accounts in USD, GBP, EUR, Saudi Riyal, and UAE Dirham, letting customers hold and transact in multiple currencies without converting to PKR every time. That's particularly useful for customers with income or family ties in the Gulf, given the bank's Saudi ownership and its longstanding strength with Hajj & Umrah operators.

Samba Break-Free — Overdraft Against Deposit

Samba Break-Free lets a customer draw up to 87% of a rupee deposit account as an overdraft — a useful alternative to a Samba Personal Loan for short-term cash needs, without closing the underlying deposit. You keep earning profit on the full deposit while paying markup only on what you actually draw, for as long as you use it — a way to cover short-term cash needs without breaking a term deposit early.

Confirmed from Samba Bank's official Finance Facility / Break-Free page.

Relationship-Balance Tiers: Samba Sehel & Sambagold

Samba Bank's Schedule of Charges defines two relationship-balance tiers that waive a range of branch banking fees, based on a customer's average monthly balance.

TierBalance RequirementKey Waivers
Samba Sehel Current AccountRs 500,000 – Rs 2,999,9993 free pay orders/demand drafts, 3 free countrywide online withdrawals, and 3 free outstation cheque clearings per month; free statements and internet banking (excluding IBFT)
Sambagold Priority BankingRs 3.0 million or equivalentWaiver of charges on pay orders/DDs, remittances, cheque collection, statements, returned cheques, stop payments, standing instructions, balance confirmations, locker key deposit, cheque books, same-day and intercity clearing, and SMS alerts

Sambagold customers whose average relationship balance falls below Rs 3.0 million for 3 consecutive months are downgraded out of the tier.

Confirmed from Samba Bank's official Schedule of Bank Charges, July–December 2026.

Closing an Account, and What Happens if It Goes Dormant

Account closing charges at Samba Bank are nil — there's no fee to close an account in good standing. Separately, the Bank reserves the right to close a Basic Banking Account if it carries a zero balance continuously for 6 months. Dormant accounts are also explicitly exempt from Samba Bank's minimum-balance charges, along with categories like students, pensioners, and Zakat-eligible customers — so an inactive account won't quietly rack up balance-maintenance fees, though it can still be closed by the Bank at its discretion if it stays inactive long enough.
