HBL Mobile & Konnect App Guide

Part of PakFinHub's HBL coverage — see the full bank overview.

Two Separate Apps Biometric Login

Confused about which HBL Mobile app you need? HBL actually runs two separate consumer apps rather than one, and mixing them up is the single most common source of confusion in "HBL app" searches. HBL Mobile is for existing HBL branch account holders; Konnect by HBL is a standalone branchless-banking and lifestyle app that doesn't require an HBL bank account at all.

HBL Mobile — Key Features

4-Digit T-PIN

Numeric transaction PIN introduced for transfers and payments, layered alongside biometric login.

Face & Fingerprint Login

Biometric authentication for faster, more secure access than password-only login.

Full Account Management

Transfers, bill payments, and account monitoring from a single app.

Konnect by HBL — Key Features

Instant Digital Account

Open a Konnect account directly in the app — your registered mobile number becomes your account number.

Service Requests

Instant tax certificate downloads, account statements, and card activation/replacement without visiting a branch.

Lifestyle Services

Food ordering, movie ticket bookings, travel bookings, and mobile recharge for Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, and Zong, alongside standard money transfers.

Konnect Shops & Agents

A nationwide agent network lets you open or use a Konnect account with just a CNIC and mobile number, even without the app — useful in areas with limited branch coverage.

Level 0 vs Level 1 Accounts

New sign-ups start as a Level 0 account with lower transaction and balance limits, based on a simplified KYC check. Upgrading to Level 1 (full KYC, higher limits) requires visiting a Konnect Shop or an HBL Biometric ATM in person — it can't be done entirely in-app.

Free HBL Account Linking

If you already hold a regular HBL branch account, you can link it inside the Konnect app and transfer between the two for free — useful if you want Konnect's lifestyle features without moving your main balance there permanently.

Raast vs IBFT vs Konnect Transfer — Which Should You Use?

HBL Mobile and Konnect both let you send money three different ways, and none of HBL's own pages compare them side by side. Here's what actually differs.

MethodDaily LimitFeeWhat You Need
RaastRs 200,000FreeRecipient's Raast ID (usually their mobile number)
IBFT (Mobile/Internet Banking)Per account tierFree on current accounts; savings accounts may be charged per SOBCRecipient's account number/IBAN — works even without a Raast ID
Konnect Wallet Transfer (L0)Rs 25,000Slab-based, Rs 45–600 depending on amountRecipient's CNIC or Konnect number
Konnect Wallet Transfer (L1)Rs 50,000Slab-based, Rs 45–600 depending on amountRecipient's CNIC or Konnect number

Quick guide: if the recipient has a Raast ID, Raast is free and covers most everyday transfer amounts up to Rs 200,000. If you only have their account number/IBAN and they haven't set up Raast, IBFT is the free fallback on current accounts. Konnect-to-Konnect transfers make sense mainly when the recipient doesn't have a bank account at all, since Konnect is the only one of the three that works purely on a CNIC and mobile number — but it's the one method here that isn't free.

Confirmed from HBL's official Raast page (hbl.com/personal/digital-banking/digital-banking/raast — Rs 200,000/day limit, free), HBL's Islamic Schedule of Bank Charges (IBFT via Mobile/Internet Banking free on current accounts, chargeable on savings per SOBC), and the Konnect Key Fact Statement/SOBC (L0 Rs 25,000/day, L1 Rs 50,000/day, slab-based transfer fees). This is a PakFinHub comparison, not an official HBL tool — always confirm the exact fee for your transfer amount and account type in-app before sending.

NextGen App — What's Changing

HBL is in the process of rolling out a new NextGen App, which the bank describes as a significant milestone in simplifying customer journeys and improving accessibility across customer segments. Alongside this rollout, HBL's mobile banking user base has grown to 5.4 million — one of the concrete indicators the bank points to when describing its digital transformation as gathering pace.

Confirmed directly from HBL's own Directors' Report in its Condensed Interim Financial Statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026. HBL has not yet published detailed public documentation distinguishing NextGen App features from the existing HBL Mobile app — check HBL's official channels for the current rollout status in your account before assuming full availability.

HBL Mobile App — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Konnect by HBL without an HBL bank account?

Yes — that's the core difference from HBL Mobile. Konnect is a standalone digital wallet; you register with just your CNIC and mobile number, no existing branch relationship required.

Is HBL Mobile free to use?

Downloading and using the app is free. Standard transaction charges under HBL's Schedule of Bank Charges may still apply to specific transfers, exactly as they would through a branch.

What if my HBL Mobile app won't accept my T-PIN?

Use the in-app "Forgot Password" recovery flow first; if that fails because your registered mobile number changed, you'll need to update it at a branch before retrying.

A Note on Switching Phones

Re-registering after a new phone purchase is one of the most common support requests HBL receives — plan for a short re-verification step involving your registered mobile number and CNIC before your first login on the new device, rather than assuming your session carries over automatically.

Good For

  • Choosing between HBL Mobile and Konnect by HBL
  • Opening a wallet account with no branch visit
