Allied Bank Dormant Account, Closure & Bank Statement — Guide

An Allied Bank account is marked dormant after 12 consecutive months without a customer-initiated transaction or digital-channel login, and can be reactivated instantly through myABL using an OTP. Account closure initiated by the bank comes with at least seven calendar days' written notice to withdraw your balance. Bank statements and certificates carry a per-certificate fee, but closing the account itself is free.

These three situations — an account going quiet, needing to close one, or just needing paperwork to prove your balance — are common enough that they deserve their own answers rather than being buried inside a general accounts page. Everything below is sourced from Allied Bank's own Terms & Conditions Governing the Account & Electronic Channels and its official Schedule of Charges.

Is My Account at Risk? & Certificate Fee Lookup

Enter your last activity date to see exactly where your account stands, or look up what a certificate will cost before requesting one.

Status

12-month dormancy threshold per Allied Bank's official Terms & Conditions. The 15-year unclaimed-deposit surrender to SBP is per Section 31 of the Banking Companies Ordinance 1962, as amended by the Banking Companies (Amendment) Act 2024 — this is a nationwide legal requirement, not an Allied Bank-specific policy. Certificate fees per Allied Bank's official Schedule of Charges, effective Jul–Dec 2026.

Dormant Accounts

Allied Bank's own terms define a dormant account as one where no customer-initiated activity — debit or credit transactions, or even logging into digital channels — has taken place for a stretch of 12 months. Once marked dormant, the account is placed under a debit block and requires a specific reactivation request before you can transact on it again.

Reactivate via myABL

Log in to myABL, open the side menu, go to Services, then Dormant Account Activation. Confirm with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number — the process is designed to reactivate the account instantly.

Reactivate at a Branch

Visit your account-maintaining branch with valid CNIC if you'd rather not use the app, or if the app-based option isn't available for your account type.

What You Can't Do While Dormant

Withdrawals, transfers, and cheque payments are blocked. Credits into the account are typically still allowed even while it's marked dormant.

Allied Bank has not published a separate reactivation fee in its Schedule of Charges — the myABL-based reactivation process itself appears to carry no charge, based on the bank's own FAQ documentation, though you should confirm this with your branch or the helpline if reactivating through a channel other than the app.

Account Closure

Allied Bank's terms give the bank broad discretion to close an account it doesn't consider satisfactorily operated, without being required to disclose the reason. Separately, if the bank decides to close an account for any other reason, its own terms commit it to giving at least seven calendar days' advance written notice, asking the customer to withdraw the credit balance.

If You Don't Withdraw the Balance

If the notice period passes and the balance hasn't been withdrawn, the bank can issue an Allied Bankers Cheque (ABC) in your name and dispatch it by courier, at your risk and cost.

Returning Cheques, Cards & Locker Keys

On closure, any unused cheques, debit/credit cards, and locker keys must be returned to the bank — or you must confirm to the bank's satisfaction that unused cheques and cards have been destroyed. Either way, they become void once the account closes.

Other Linked Relationships

The bank also reserves the right to close related relationships — lockers, safe custody, cards, internet banking — tied to the closed account.

Account closing processing itself carries no charge under the current Schedule of Charges. If you're closing a specific digital product like an Asaan Mobile Account, note that some of these require your balance to be zero before the closure option becomes available in-app.

If you're an auditor requesting balance confirmation as part of a formal audit, note that the fee structure above applies specifically to non-auditor requests — auditor confirmations may follow a different process; confirm directly with your branch.
