HBL Reward Points
Part of PakFinHub's HBL coverage — see the full bank overview.
Every HBL CreditCard earns reward points automatically on eligible spend — no separate enrollment, no app to activate. The part people actually get confused about isn't the earning rate; it's what a point is worth once you try to redeem it, because that value changes depending on which redemption route you use. This page answers that directly, with the exact numbers HBL itself publishes.
How to Earn HBL Reward Points
- Earning Rate
- 1 point per Rs 25 spent
- Eligible Spend
- Eligible purchases only
- Currency
- PKR or FX equivalent
- Expiry
- None, while account is active
HBL's CreditCard Terms & Conditions state one reward point is earned for every Rs 25 (or the equivalent in foreign currency) spent on eligible purchases — HBL explicitly reserves the right to change this amount, so treat it as the current rule rather than a permanent guarantee. Not every transaction necessarily qualifies; cash advances and certain fee-type charges are typically excluded from earning, in line with standard credit card practice.

Reward Points Calculator
Under the current 1-point-per-Rs-25 rule, here's what different spend levels translate to. These are estimates based on the published earning rate — your actual statement may differ slightly depending on which transactions qualify.
| Eligible Spend (PKR) | Reward Points Earned |
|---|---|
| Rs 5,000 | 200 points |
| Rs 10,000 | 400 points |
| Rs 25,000 | 1,000 points |
| Rs 50,000 | 2,000 points |
| Rs 100,000 | 4,000 points |
Formula: points = eligible spend ÷ 25. So Rs 10,000 of eligible spend works out to 400 points (10,000 ÷ 25) under the rule cited above.

How to Redeem — and What a Point Is Actually Worth
This is the part most comparison sites skip: HBL reward points don't have one fixed cash value. What a point is worth depends entirely on which redemption route you use — and the difference between routes is bigger than most people expect.
| Redemption Route | Value / Terms |
|---|---|
| Annual fee redemption | Points can be applied against your HBL CreditCard annual fee once it appears on your statement — including supplementary-card annual fees. No fixed cash rate is published for this route. |
| Pay Your Bill (promotional, time-bound) | 1 reward point = PKR 0.25. Minimum 10,000 points, redeemable only in multiples of 10,000. Applies only against your outstanding CreditCard balance. This has run as a limited-time campaign (e.g. October 2025) rather than a standing, year-round offer — confirm it's currently active before counting on it. |
| Travel Rewards (promotional, time-bound) | Roughly 1 reward point = PKR 0.50 against online airline ticket purchases (e.g. 10,000 points = Rs 5,000 off). Minimum 10,000 points, card-tier redemption caps apply (Platinum up to 200,000 points / Rs 200,000; Gold and Green lower). Runs as a scheduled campaign with specific start/end dates, not permanently available. |
| Rewards Catalogue | Electronics, watches, pens, dining and shopping vouchers, and similar items — value varies by product and isn't a fixed per-point cash rate. Delivery can take up to 4 weeks; product prices are subject to change. |
All redemption routes go through the same channel: call HBL PhoneBanking at 111-111-425, or use the Rewards section in HBL Mobile for options that support in-app redemption.

The Pay Your Bill and Travel Rewards rates and thresholds are tied to specific promotional campaigns HBL has run — always confirm current availability and terms before assuming a rate applies today.
Do HBL Reward Points Expire?
No — HBL's CreditCard FAQ states reward points do not expire as long as the account is operated in line with the Terms and Conditions. That's a genuinely better position than many competing cards, which cap points at 2–3 years. The catch is in that qualifier: "operated according to the Terms and Conditions" means an account that goes dormant, is closed, or falls into default can lose that protection, so this isn't an unconditional guarantee to bank on indefinitely.

Terms Worth Knowing Before You Rely on a Redemption
HBL's Terms & Conditions give the bank broad, explicit latitude over the whole rewards program: it can terminate HBL Rewards, cancel or change benefits, or modify the value of points and how they're redeemed — with prior notice, but even where that reduces the value of points you've already accumulated. Separately, any physical gift redeemed through the catalogue is non-exchangeable, non-refundable, and can't be converted to cash, and isn't replaced if lost or damaged after being issued.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can supplementary cardholders earn and redeem points?
Supplementary cards earn points on their own eligible spend, which pools into the same account. Points can be used to cover the supplementary card's annual fee specifically, per HBL's CreditCard FAQ.
How much is one HBL reward point actually worth in rupees?
There's no single answer — it depends on the redemption route. Under HBL's Pay Your Bill campaign, 1 point = PKR 0.25. Under Travel Rewards, it's roughly PKR 0.50. The annual fee and merchandise catalogue routes don't publish a fixed per-point cash rate at all.
Can I redeem HBL reward points for cash?
No — HBL's Terms & Conditions explicitly state catalogue gifts are not redeemable for cash or credit under any circumstances. The Pay Your Bill and Travel Rewards routes reduce an outstanding balance or ticket cost directly; they don't pay out as cash either.
What purchases don't earn reward points?
HBL doesn't publish a complete public exclusion list, but standard practice across HBL's card terms excludes cash advances and most fee-type charges from earning — only "eligible purchases" count.
