The New DIB App (2026 Relaunch)

DIB has rolled out a redesigned version of its mobile app, marketed as "the all-new DIB App." The relaunch is aimed at faster logins, quicker transactions, and a smoother overall interface, with DIB positioning secure access as a core part of the update rather than a separate feature.

How to Register

New internet banking users register through DIB's official online registration portal linked from the internet banking login page. For mobile banking, download "DIB Pakistan Mobile" from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei AppGallery, then complete registration inside the app using your account number and CNIC for verification. DIB explicitly warns that it never asks for your password, ATM PIN, or confidential account details via email or phone — a distinction worth remembering when evaluating any message claiming to be from the bank (see our Cyber Security & Fraud page).

WhatsApp Banking

DIB also runs a WhatsApp Banking channel — customers can message the bank's WhatsApp number directly to access a menu of automated services, including card activation and general banking queries, without opening the app. To activate it, send the message "HI" via WhatsApp to 021-111-786-342, DIB's official WhatsApp Banking number — you can also save that number as a contact so WhatsApp shows the chat automatically.

Pocket Money Partnership — USD-to-PKR Cashouts for Freelancers

In April 2026, DIB Pakistan and Pocket Money launched a State Bank of Pakistan-approved partnership letting freelancers, remote workers, and remittance recipients cash out US Dollar earnings into Rupees through Pocket Money's platform, backed by DIB's regulated banking infrastructure. DIB positions it as a way to bring more of Pakistan's freelance and remote workforce into the formal economy, with SBP having specifically sanctioned the use case following DIB's application. This sits alongside, rather than inside, DIB's own Roshan Digital Account and standard remittance channels — it's a third-party platform integration, not a DIB-branded product.

WhatsApp Banking vs the App: When Each Makes Sense

WhatsApp Banking's real advantage is zero setup — no download, no separate registration flow, just messaging a number you likely already have saved once you know it exists. That makes it genuinely useful for occasional needs like card activation or a quick balance check on a phone where you don't want another app installed. The full app and internet banking portal earn their place for anything recurring or detailed — fund transfer history, bill payment scheduling, e-statements — where WhatsApp's menu-driven interface would be slower than a proper interface built for repeated use. If you're deciding which to set up first, WhatsApp Banking is the lower-friction starting point; the full app is worth the extra setup once you're using digital banking regularly rather than occasionally.

What the Pocket Money Partnership Actually Changes

Before this SBP-approved integration, a freelancer receiving USD earnings still had to route them through standard banking or remittance channels to convert to PKR. The Pocket Money partnership adds a specific, regulator-sanctioned path for that conversion built on top of DIB's existing banking infrastructure — it doesn't replace DIB's own Roshan Digital Account or standard remittance options, it sits alongside them as another route into the formal financial system. For a freelancer already banking with DIB, this is worth investigating as one more option for cashing out USD earnings, but it's a third-party platform arrangement, not a DIB-branded feature you'll find inside the DIB app itself — check Pocket Money's own platform for how the integration actually works in practice.
