Dubai Islamic Bank Account Opening
Part of PakFinHub's DIB coverage — every account type and how to open one.
- 9 Account Types
- Digital Onboarding Available
Dubai Islamic Bank account opening covers a wider range of products than most conventional banks offer — DIB structures separate accounts for different customer segments instead of one generic savings account with bolt-on features. Below is what's on offer, and how each one works.
DIB Account Types
| Account | Who It's For |
|---|---|
| Asaan Account | SBP's simplified low-documentation account for financial inclusion — reduced KYC requirements, lower balance thresholds |
| Regular Current / Savings Account | Standard retail current and savings accounts under Islamic Mudarabah/Qard principles |
| Foreign Currency Account | USD, GBP, EUR and other major currency deposit accounts |
| Freelancer Account | Built for freelancers and IT exporters receiving foreign payments; DIB's Western Union remittance collection line (0800-11-DIB / 342) is marketed to this segment specifically |
| Johara Account | DIB's dedicated women's financial services account |
| Itmenaan Account | Fixed-profit-tier savings account for customers who want predictability |
| Senior Citizen Account | Preferential terms for account holders above a set age threshold |
| Muaawin Account | Designed for persons with disabilities (PWDs) |
| Term Deposit | Fixed-tenure Islamic deposit (Mudarabah-based) for a locked-in profit rate |

How Dubai Islamic Bank Account Opening Works
DIB offers both branch-based and fully digital account opening. For digital account opening, DIB provides an online onboarding flow through its official Digital Account Opening portal — no branch visit required for eligible applicants, using CNIC verification and biometric/video KYC. For branch-based opening, you'll need your original CNIC, a passport-size photograph, and proof of income or occupation depending on the account type.
Every DIB deposit account operates under a documented Islamic contract — typically Qard (interest-free loan structure for current accounts) or Mudarabah (profit-and-loss sharing for savings and term deposits) — rather than a conventional interest-bearing structure. The bank publishes its profit-sharing weightages and historical profit rates for each account tier separately (see our Profit Rates page).
Documents You'll Typically Need
- Original CNIC/SNIC or NICOP for overseas applicants
- Passport-size photograph
- Proof of occupation or source of income (salary slip, business registration, etc.)
- Initial deposit amount as per the chosen account's minimum balance requirement
Cheque Books & Deposits
Current account and select savings account holders can request a cheque book once the account is active; DIB also offers Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) and cash/cheque collection through its branchless banking channels for customers who don't want to queue at a teller. Cheque clearing follows the standard SBP-mandated same-day and next-day clearing cycles depending on the branch and the clearing house involved.

Cheque Book & Deposit Charges
Once your account is active, here's what a cheque book and everyday deposit-related requests actually cost under DIB's Schedule of Charges — regular current/savings accounts pay per-leaf cheque book fees, while Asaan Account holders get a lower rate.

| Asaan Account cheque book | Rs 16/leaf |
